It is thought that Gaglioppo (gah-lee-oh-poe) may have arrived in southern Italy from the Greeks, but other evidence points to decendency from the Sangiovese grape. Consolato Malaspina and his four daughters tend to rugged hilltop vineyards that slope toward the sea to craft wild and fascinating traditional wines of this region.
