Uva Rara translates to "rare grape" though it is widely grown in the Oltrepo Pavese region of Italy and often blended with other local grapes. It is a treat to experience this grape as a single varietal wine. The Frecciarossa winery was founded after WW1 by Mario Odero amongst the rolling hills rich in clay and iron ore. Mario was among the first to export wines of this region to the US just after prohibition.
