Xinomavro ("ksee no ma vro") produces some of the finest red wines of Greece and commonly drawscomparison to Barolo's Nebbiolo. Negoska and Mavrodaphne are not seen as often as single varietal wines, but here they lend both earthy and perfumed aromatics to this blend. The viticulturalists at Argatia winery have dedicated themselves to the ongoing research of Greek grape varieties. the word Argatia refers to the "copperation for the achievement of a common goal" according to the Greek Agricultural Society of Pontos, and they are certainly living up to that - sharing their knowledge of these ancient grape varieties and bringing wines to our table that are quite unique.
