Perched above the Dão River that snakes its way through granite valleys, Adega de Penalva is one of the leading cooperatives in the area. The group boasts around a thousand member growers, but it's important to note that the average holding per member amounts to barely over a hectare. Encruzado is one of the top white wines of Portugual; Malvasia is typically seen in fortied Madeira wines, but when made into a table wine style it is highly aromatic (think florals); Cerceal (not to be confused with Sercial Madeira) is a rare Portugues grape and a fun blending partner lending savory minerality.
